We had the pleasure to interview award-winning American artist Randy Honerlah whose abstracted landscapes, animals and flowers using vivid colors have earned him the title of being a Signature Artist of the International Society of Acrylic Painters:
1. How did you become an artist?
As a child, my grandmother suggested I might like painting. Her mother and grandmother were both artists. She bought me supplies and my first paint-by-number kit.
2. What inspires your art? Where and how do you find inspiration?
Most of my paintings involve nature, trees, water, mountains and animals. The abstractions created by leaves and branches intermingling are always inspirational to me!
3. What does your art mean to you?
I strive to create something which people enjoy so my art is something I offer to improve people's lives by being fresh and vibrant uplifting..
4. What is the most valuable piece of art to you?
Something that fulfills my desire to enhance peoples' lives.
5. How do you overcome your creative blocks?
Sometimes just giving it a day or two will make me come back with a new outlook. Other times I may look at other artists' work and find an answer to how it resolves.
6. Would you describe the experience or feelings you have when creating your art?
I generally am so focused on the art that I don't think about anything else, it is immersive and meditative.
